HSAIG was ended in 2026 due to lack of interest in the organization as well as other AAA sections such as the Association for Queer Anthropology and the Association for Feminist Anthropology covering topics and concerns HSAIG was originally formulated to address.
As an official interest group within the American Anthropological Association (AAA), the mission of HSAIG was to advance the field of sexuality research and education and inform policy and practices that enhance sexual health and wellbeing.
