  • 2025 HSAIG Virtual Business Meeting

    The 2025 Human Sexuality & Anthropology Interest Group (HSAIG) Business Meeting will be held virtually on Friday, November 14th from 1-2pm US Eastern Time (10-11am Pacific Time). We will announce the 2025 Anne Bolin & Gil Herd Book Award and Honorable Mention winners and share updates from HSAIG members. If you have something you’d like to announce or discuss at the meeting, please send me an email to Will Robertson know so I can be sure to include it in the agenda.

    Anyone (especially students!) who is interested in becoming more involved with HSAIG is encouraged to attend.   • 2025 Anne Bolin & Gil Herdt Book Prize Winner

    We are proud to announce the 2025 Anne Bolin & Gil Herdt Book Prize winners, awarded to single-authored monograph.

    This year’s winner is Seductive Spirits: Deliverance, Demons, and Sexual Worldmaking in Ghanaian Pentecostalism by Nathaneal J. Homewood.

    This year’s honorable mention is Violent Intimacies: The Trans Everyday and the Making of an Urban World by Aslı Zengin.

    A big heartfelt thanks to the book prize committee chair Ruth Goldstein (University of Wisconsin, Madison) and committee members Quinn Houlihan (University of Memphis), Roger Lancaster (George Mason University), and Dafna Rachok (University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill).

We will discuss efforts to revitalize the interest group, announce the 2024 Anne Bolin & Gil Herd Book Award and Honorable Mention winners, and share updates from HSAIG members.     We are proud to announce the 2024 Anne Bolin & Gil Herdt Book Prize winners, awarded to single-authored monograph.

    This year’s winner is The Struggle to Be Gay—in Mexico, For Example by Roger N. Lancaster.

    This year’s honorable mention is LGBTQ+ People with Chronic Illness: Chroniqueers in Southern Europe by Mara Pieri.
